Students queuing up at various colleges have the weirdest of queries

"Are the college toilets clean?" asked a strapping boy to a volunteer at the help desk of Hindu college. The
bewildered student volunteer replied: "They are clean...yes ufffd probably."u00a0 As anxious students swarmed college campuses with their endless queries, the volunteers had a tough time keeping up.

Hear, there and everywhere: Volunteers at help desks had to
deal with rather funny questions Pic/Subhash Barolia

And it was not just the huge number of students who had turned up that was a bother, it was the rather absurd questions they were asking that had the volunteers perplexed.

Curiouser and curiouser
Aspiring students were not only curious about different courses and the number of seats, but they were equally inquisitive about the kind of washrooms they would get and the quality of food sold at the college canteen.

Smriti, one of the volunteers at Miranda House from the DU Jugaad website group, never thought she would have to face such questions.

"It was a mad day. About a hundred people came in to ask about the college washrooms! Also a good number of students came up to me to know what food the college canteen offers and if it plays music for students," she said.

Also, a lot of male candidates from outside Delhi didn't know about women colleges. Himanshu Rawal, a candidate from Haryana, was seen enquiring at the desk of a woman's college. "I want to apply under the sports quota.u00a0 I know I won't get through Daulat Ramu00a0 and Laxmibai colleges (both are women's colleges), please tell me if I can get a seat in Jesus and Mary College (again a women's college) in south campus..??"

Getting clued in
Seema Parihar, professor and media coordinator, Kirorimal College, said: "Most of the students coming down from other cities are clueless about DU colleges and the admission criteria. They come with absurd queries. We advise them to go through the information bulletin carefully and not panic without knowing details of a specific college or course."
