In one incident, four militants were killed in a two-day anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control in Kupwara district. An army official said the bodies of the terrorists were recovered from the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir along with four AK-47 Rifles, ammunition and other war-like stores. The identity of the terrorists is yet to be ascertained.
In a separate incident, two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Baramulla district yesterday, police said.
The gunbattle erupted after a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in the wee hours following information about presence of militants in the area. The slain militants have been identified as Mehraj Ahmad Bhat and Aadil Ahmad. Two army soldiers were also injured in the operation, an army official said.
The opposition parties yesterday slammed the state government, accusing it of lacking “vision” and “direction” and contending that the 16-months of its rule were a waste of time. Leading the attack was National Conference leader, who said CM Mehbooba Mufti has made many flip flops on various issues.
The Dada who eliminated four terrorists
Havildar Hangpan Dada
It was sheer grit and determination of 36-year-old Havildar Hangpan Dada that saw him fight valiantly at the 13,000-feet high Shamsabari range to eliminate four heavily-armed terrorists who infiltrated into North Kashmir from PoK before he laid down his life.
He charged at the spot where terrorists were holed up to ensure two of them were killed on the spot and the third one after a scuffle yesterday. It was the team of Havildar, who is known as just Dada, which spotted the terrorists in the area on Thursday and lost no time in engaging them in an encounter that went on yesterday too.
