Asha Bhosle unhappy with new songs and remixes
Legendary singer Asha Bhosle today expressed her dislike for new songs and also remixes of old numbers. "I don't like them (remixes).
We used to spend so much time in doing rehearsals. No one has a voice like Kishore, so why are they damaging our songs? Why are they not doing new songs?" the 81-year-old singer told reporters here.
On new songs, she said the melody is missing as the focus is on rhythm. "I don't like it (the melody of new songs). These days everyone irrespective of their age wants to dance at weddings and they are not bothered about the song. They want rhythm to dance. So if the rhythm is good then the song will also be a hit," Bhosle said.
Recalling the old golden era of Indian music, she said those days good music directors used to be good singers too. "We used to learn a lot from them," she said adding that youngsters who are learning music through television reality shows will not become good playback singers.
When asked about training her 12-year-old grand-daughter Zanai, the singing queen said she has been advised to sing for herself.
"She is learning classical music and we have told her to sing for yourself and not become something," she said adding that their family 'gharana' would be carried on by her.
Even at the age of 81, Bhosle said, she does her rehearsals every day for at least 1-2 hours. "I never stop working. I sing, rehearse or cook food and I am never idle," Bhosle said.
