"We know at the box office business gets divided (on multiple releases). But if two films come together then one should think towards attracting audience. Even 'Sholay' and 'Jai Santoshi Maa' released together and the latter did good business.

"Even 'Lagaan' and 'Gadar' released on the same date. I would say both 'Rustom' and 'Mohenjo Daro' should do well and become superhits," Ashutosh told reporters here at a promotional event of his epic saga set in ancient India.

Actor Hrithik Roshan, who is playing the lead role along with newcomer Pooja Hegde, sidestepped the box office clash query. "The producers should talk about it," he added.

Set in 2016 BC in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro in the era of Indus Valley civilisation, the film is about a man who falls in love with his enemy's daughter, who is a dancer.

The adventure-romance film, written and directed by Ashutosh and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, releases on August 12.

"Rustom" is loosely based on an incident in the life of naval officer K M Nanavati in late 1950s, which attracted a lot of media attention.

The film, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, features Akshay and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead roles.
