Vijay Zol has been named the captain of the 15-member India team for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-19 Asia Cup that will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Dec 28 to Jan 4.

Kerala wicketkeeper Sanju Vishwanadh Samson, who was part of the Under-19 team for the Asia Cup in 2012, has been appointed Zol's deputy. Samson, who made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with Rajasthan Royals, has hit a purple patch in domestic cricket, having scored a double-century and century this season.

"The All-India Junior Selection Committee met in Delhi on 27th November to pick the Indian team for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup to be played in the UAE in December 2013 January 2014," said a statement from Anurag Thakur, Joint Secreatry, BCCI.
Zol shot into limelight when he scored an unbeaten 451 during a domestic U-19 match in 2011. During the U-19 World Cup last year, he scored 151 runs in six matches at an average of 25.16.
India have been clubbed in Group A with arch-rivals Pakistan, Nepal and hosts UAE. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia make up Group B.
India start their campaign against the UAE at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Dec 28, followed by matches against Nepal (Dec 29) and Pakistan (Dec 31), which will be held at the Dubai International Stadium. The final is slated for Jan 4 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
