A special Mumbai ATS team will be dispatched to Indore to interrogate arrested IM agents who may shed light on the blast's perpetrators

The Mumbai ATS is leaving no stone unturned in their attempts to nab the perpetrators for Wednesday's blasts. A team from the squad will be interrogating a number of accused IM operatives who were arrested in June.

They are hoping to obtain significant information from them related to the Wednesday blasts. MP police had arrested the SIMI and Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Dr Abu Faisal in June.

Faisal, who hails from Mumbai, had revealed that the Allahabad high court judges, who gave the verdict in the Babri Masjid case in September 30 last year, were their main targets.

He had later revealed names of more targets from Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Lucknow.

The ATS agents will now question Faisal and his associates in order to glean information that may be relevant to the Wednesday blasts.

Faisal, one of the IM operatives who has been in close contact with IM head Riyaz Bhatkal, will be the main accused to be questioned in the case.

Sources from the Indore ATS confirmed that they had been contacted by the Mumbai ATS for permission to send a visiting team that would question Faisal.

Investigations undertaken by the Indore police had revealed that Faisal was in charge of recruiting new agents to aide another IM operative, Danish.

The two had even met at a place called Khajrana, in Madhya Pradesh.

Since the attacks are almost sure to have been planned for months in advance, the interrogating team will attempt to confirm their suspicions about the same.

It is reported that both the Indore ATS and the Mumbai ATS will interrogate Faisal and his associates successively.

In for questioning
The Madhya Pradesh ATS had arrested eight SIMI/IM operatives from Jabalpur and Bhopal in "Operation Vijay" in the second week of June.

Those arrested from Jabalpur were identified as Shaikh Mujeeb (Gujarat), Aslam (Khandwa), Habeeb (Ujjain,) and Sajid (Ujjain).

Others such as Faizal (Mumbai), Ikrar (Ujjain), Mehboob (Khandwa) and Ezazuddin (Kareli) were held in Bhopal.

Faisal, a doctor who was leading the module, had assigned Shaikh Mujeeb and Aslam to conduct a recce of the chosen site of attack, at the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
