The Guide tells you about a band who will have you believe that their clones perform on stage

If the name Them Clones conjures visuals of a sci-fi movie replete with human clones, you are not too far off. The band members thought that the name was a humorous and ironic interpretation of themselves who hold day jobs as well as perform and compose music (wishing for clones to handle the workload). The name also reflects the attitude of the band members who look at their stage personalities as clones of their actual selves.

Them Clones

This Delhi-based band have earned a name owing to their sell-out jam-packed gigs. Their first album was Love.Hate.Heroes. which released in 2009. The band comprises of Prithwish Dev (vocals), Joseph L and Gucci Singh (guitar), Clarence Gonsalves (bass) and Surojit Dev (drums).

Their music is Alt / Rock and they started performing in 2000. "We got together through common friends. We had a metal band that did not work! I used to listen to the music of the 90s and Alternative Rock. Since I was in college with Gucci, I got in touch with him and thus the band was formed," said Surojit Dev. Them Clones, who are on their VH1 India tour, will be performing two of their brand new singles 'All about a heart break' and 'Jealousy' in Pune. The songs came about as Them Clones were looking to forge an identity as a left-of-the-middle sort of band.

The band has spent the last year composing new songs and hence, they will be releasing singles at this gig. They are keeping their fingers crossed that it doesn't rain and they get a packed house. The band won awards at LaunchPad in 2005 and also got voted as the Best Band at the AMP Big Break All Asia. The recently concluded Rock Awards 2009, saw them bagging 'Best Song', 'Best Vocalist' and the 'Best Drummer' awards.
