Avril Lavigne has opened up about a bar scuffle in Los Angeles over the weekend that left her bloody and bruised, claiming she was brutally targeted by five people in an unprovoked attack.

The Canadian singer was involved in an argument with another woman in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where the singer and her boyfriend, reality TV star Brody Jenner, were enjoying a night out.

Jenner reportedly attempted to intervene and was allegedly struck on the head with a bottle during the commotion leading him to sought hospital treatment for his injuries.

Lavigne has now taken to Twitter.com to address the reports, confirming she was involved in a brawl but denying suggestions she started the altercation, which she claims left her with a black eye and a bloody nose.

"I don't fight. I don't believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by 5 people last night out of nowhere. Not cool. My face is f**ked. As in black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts," Contactmusic quoted her as tweeting.

"So not OK to be abusive to others. Violence is Never the answer," she added.

Meanwhile Jenner posted, "Interesting Saturday night... Just got (out) of the hospital with a new scar on my face... Charges/chargers!!!"
