B-town director's wife commits suicide

The wife of Bollywood director-producer Sunil Agnihotri committed suicide by taking an overdose of pills at their Khar residence on Wednesday afternoon. 41-year-old Anjali was found dead in her bed by her son, who reported the matter to the police.

Cops recovered a suicide note and several tablet boxes from the bedroom, following which they registered a suicide case. They are now awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Sunil Agnihotri has directed the famous television serial Chandrakanta and films like Jai Kishen and Daava. The family resides at Remband Society, Nargis Dutt Road on Pali Hill in Bandra (West). Anjali took her life in the same apartment.

On Wednesday afternoon, Siddharth, Anjali’s 21-year-old son, went to the gym, leaving his mother alone in the house. Around 4 pm, he returned only to find his mother lying unconscious in the bedroom. He immediately informed his family members and rushed Anjali to Hinduja Health Care Pvt Ltd, Khar. Doctors, however, pronounced her dead on admission. The Khar police was informed about the incident.

Inspector Dilip Kale of Khar police station, said, “We found a suicide note which stated no one should be held responsible for the death. We recovered many tablet containers near the bed where she was lying. We found eight tablets missing from a box of 20, which we suspect were consumed by her.

Her family members said she has been mentally disturbed for quite some time.” The suicide note stated, “I love both my sons and my husband very much. I have to take such an extreme step because I don’t want to live such a life. No one should be held responsible for my suicide. I love you all.”u00a0
