The Big Bang Theory actress, who was still mourning the loss of her pet Petey, who she had had for 14 years, was left "in shock" when another beloved dog, Chester, suddenly died.

Taking to Instagram, Cuoco, wrote: "It hasn't been a great week for dogs so with a heavy heart I must tell you, sweet Chester (aka Chedder cheese) has passed away.

"We rescue these angels blindly and have no idea what problems they may have.. I'm still in shock but I just keep feeling blessed to have him in my life even for a small amount of time. He was such a joy- hilarious ears and followed me everywhere I went.

"He loved people so so much- loved being held and cuddled. Slept right on my pillow every night. I can sleep knowing that he felt extreme love towards the end of his life. Thank you @pawworks for blessing me with the big eared wonder .. (sic)."

The actress adopted Chester and had previously praised Petey for inspiring her to adopt. She added: "My folks gave him the greatest life and he taught us what it meant to love an adoption pup. I have since named my corporation after him (peteypie inc) and he has brought a lifetime of joy and laughs to our entire family...(sic)"
