Vancouver: Indian shuttler Anand Pawar advanced to the men’s singles third round of the USD50,000 Canada Open Grand Prix at the UBC Thunderbird Arena.


The fourth seeded Indian needed only 23 minutes to ease past local player Bobby Milroy 21-12, 21-11 in their first ever encounter Tuesday.


Pawar will next take on unseeded Kuei Chun Shih of Chinese Taipei on Wednesday for a place in the quarter-finals.


Earlier, South Korean pair Ji Su Lee and Soo Hwan Ryu made short work of D Guru Prasad and Venkatesh Prasad, beating them 21-17, 21-16 in only 25 minutes.
