Don't be fooled by the phonetic imagination of their name, Jahcoozi means serious business when it comes to their music
She doesn't like his films but there is a reason why they call her music 'the aural equivalent of a Quentin Tarentino film'. Sri Lankan songwriter and front woman Sasha Perera of the electronic pop band Jahcoozi is like 'Black Mamba' Uma Thurman with a microphone. If Tarantino was indeed to make a musical Kill Bill the intertitle would read, 'Electronic pop is a dish best served by Jahcuzzi.'
The trio consisting of Teuton Robot Koch, Oren Gerlitz and Sasha after their conception during a 'long coal-fuelled winter in Berlin in 2002' have come a long way with hits like Black Barbie and Fish and albums like Pure Breed Mongrel, Blitz 'n' Ass and Barefoot Wanderer. "I visited India 10 years back but this is my first trip here as a performer and I'm excited," says Sasha who'll be performing in the Capital this Saturday.
Recently, the trio performed in Mumbai and Pune as a part of their tour and if report are to be believed left behind a trail of zombies jiving to their music. "Expect a lot of energetic and unadulterated sounds which will entertain you, make you laugh and keeps Delhi on its toes," she warns. The lady plans to try out so Tibetan cuisine while in the Capital and has a workshop with Delhi kids on the itinerary. But that can wait; the Black Barbie needs to get back to her rehearsal, rest of us need to simply 'stay tuned'. On November 19
