Belgrade tabloid Kurir reported recently that the footballer went out of his way to be present for Ivanovic's 27th birthday celebrations in the Serbian capital on November 6.
According to the report, the Bayern Munich player flew to Belgrade on the evening of November 6, and even tried to evade the paparazzi to ensure his presence was not publicised.
Schweinsteiger, his manager and a couple of his friends, who flew to Belgrade in a private jet, were seen entering the
airport's VIP terminal at 7:15pm.
The player's private security cordon then reportedly quickly covered their 'subject' with a jacket to avoid the possibility of photographs when they learnt that there were a few journalists at the terminal too.
The player was then escorted to a waiting car and whisked away to Ivanovic's apartment in New Belgrade. It is learnt that Ivanovic's brother Milos was also a part of the celebrations.
Schweinsteiger, Ivanovic and the rest of the group dined at a restaurant situated in the same building, and although Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic tried hard to hide from the paparazzi, the Belgrade tabloid managed to obtain exclusive photographs of the tennis star's birthday bash. "Ana and Bastian enjoyed their love… not knowing our team followed closely," Kurir reported.
The on-again-off-again relationship between the star couple began in September when the couple was spotted holding hands strolling in New York, where Ivanovic was participating in the US Open.
Thereafter, reports claimed that Schweinsteiger reconciled with his ex-girlfriend and model Sarah Brandner whom he had been dating for seven years (2007 to 2014).
