Battle of daughters in Baramati as Pankaja Munde takes on Supriya Sule

While Nationalist Congress Party has fielded minister of state for revenue Suresh Dhas against senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gopinath Munde in Beed Lok Sabha constituency, Munde’s daughter Pankaja is all set to challenge Supriya Sule, Baramati’s sitting MP and daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

BJP-Shiv Sena alliance partner Rashtriya Samaj Paksha’s only Lok Sabha candidate in the state Mahadev Jankar filed his nomination yesterday and Pankaja was present at the election office to express encouragement.

“Pankaja tai has assured me that she will extend all support to my campaign. Along with Beed, she is specifically focusing on Baramati. She is going to conduct as many as six rallies in my constituency,” Jankar told mid-day.

Meanwhile, after Jankar filed his nomination form, Gopinath Munde told the local media that while his daughter will keep an eye on Beed, her focus would be on Baramati.

“Yes, she is going to concentrate on Baramati. She is making every effort to arrange Narendra Modi’s rally in my constituency. According to our plans, Modi will address a public meeting in Daund,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts, Pankaja remained unavailable for comment.
