BCCI AGM: For how long will Modi be kept out?

When the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the list of nominees for elections during today's AGM, as expected, Lalit Modi's name was missing.

During the AGM, the BCCI is also likely to reduce the tenure of Indian Premier League's Governing Council to one year and make interim chairman Chirayu Amin the permanent head. What this means is that Lalit Modi will no longer hold any post in the Indian Board.

With several cases against him and the BCCI's power group against him, Modi's return seems unlikely. But Kishor Rungta, the former BCCI treasurer, whose reign Modi ended in Rajasthan, is experienced enough to not rule out the possibility. "I am not saying he will make a comeback. But it will be premature to say that Modi will not make it back in Indian cricket."

"Jagmohan Dalmiya (now president of Cricket Association of Bengal and former BCCI president) was also in a similar situation. But he won the battles in courts and now is backu00a0 in cricket administration," Rungta added.
