As D-Day draws near, there are issues aplenty. To discuss those threadbare, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a series of informal meetings on Saturday.

Outgoing president Shashank Manohar, president-elect N Srinivasan, vice-presidents Niranjan Shah and Rajeev Shukla spent a good part of the day weighing options for key positions. Candidates will be finalised today, but there are ambiguities over almost every slot before Monday's Annual General Meeting.
However, the mandarins of the board are inclined towards having younger men rather than veterans. According to sources, there are quite a few who could be the dark horses for grabbing crucial BCCI positions in its 82nd Annual General Meeting on Monday.
"We will surely welcome new faces who will deliver the goods. There are many who could fill the big shoes, but it's still not sure who will eventually emerge winners," a top BCCI official told SUNDAY MiD DAY.
Jagmohan Dalmiya, who was back in the BCCI fold in the last AGM, has forwarded Chitrak Mitra's name for the vice-president's post and that apparently hasn't gone down well with the Board mandarins. "It would have been better had he named someone younger as Mitra has been in the fray for a long time," an official felt.
Gujarat Cricket Association's Amit Shah, known to handle all cricketing matters on behalf of Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh CA's Jyotiraditya Scindia, Orissa CA president Ranjib Biswal, Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary Biswarup Dey, Himachal Pradesh CA's Anurag Thakur, Hyderabad CA president Arshad Ayub and Karnataka State Cricket Association chief Anil Kumble are among those who could be a part of the new regime.
Meanwhile, Delhi and Districts Cricket Association president Arun Jaitley will not attend the meeting. Ditto Jammu & Kashmir's Farooq Abdullah. The associations will be represented by SK Bansal and Aslam Goni, respectively.
