The BCCI on Saturday congratulated the members of the Indian women's cricket team for winning the three-match Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka 3-0. The Indian team dished out a clinical performance to thrash Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the third and final game to complete a 3-0 series whitewash.

Board President Shashank Manohar said: "The women's team has done consistently well, in recent times with T20I series win against Australia in Australia and now against Sri Lanka at home. I would like to congratulate captain Mithali Raj for the consistent show by her team and I hope that the Indian women's team would continue to build the momentum for the ICC World T20 2016."


Asked to bowl, the Indians restricted Sri Lanka to a lowly 89 for nine and then overwhelmed the target in 13.5 overs, reaching 91 for the loss of just one wicket. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said: "I want to congratulate our team on their resounding victory in the T20Is against Sri Lanka.

This is a result of their dedicated effort, which has translated into a series of successful performances. I wish that the consistency displayed, would come in good stead ahead of their preparations for the ICC World T20 2016 in India."
