Head to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park this Sunday for an adventurous session of rappelling and rock climbing
Now there’s no need to plan a trip outside the city to try your hands at rappelling or rock climbing. You can do it within the realms of the city. Jumpstart Outdoors and the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) have organised a one-day rock climbing and rappelling session at the Kanheri Caves, this weekend, for the city’s adventure lovers.

“The six-hour session starts at 7 am on Sunday. We will meet at the gate of SGNP, and then proceed in dedicated vehicles to the Kanheri caves, which is roughly 7 kms away,” says Ryan Thomas, one of the founding members of Jumpstart Outdoors.
The programme is open to beginners of all ages, and will include a formal training at the site before the commencement of the climb. The total cost including transportation is '600, but the participants will have to arrange for meals on their own. Thomas suggests to bring light packed lunches along and plenty of water, and energy drinks.
Also, even if you have visited the Kanheri Caves earlier, remember, as the folks at Jumpstart believe, that the rocks have a life of their own and no two climbs are ever the same.
The total number of seats is 30, and pre-registration is mandatory; for children below 18 years, a signed consent from parents is required to participate in it. Also, a new rule at SGNP requires visitors to pay a refundable deposit to carry plastic inside.
