A compact card of eight races is slated for Sunday's Mahalaxmi races, the main event being the grade 1, Poonawalla Breeders' Multi-Million (PBMM) for three-year-old horses. Also known as juvenile Derby, this rich contest decides who is currently the most forward juvenile in the country.
The top billing clearly goes to Be Safe, trained by Malesh Narredu and to be ridden by B Sreekanth, who has won all his three races in style. His main challengers appear to be the Neil Darashah-trained Nesto, who comes here with two attractive victories at Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Solomon, trained by Pesi Shroff, is another who can show big improvement over his victorious run on debut, whereas Be Safe's owner-mate War Command, trainer Padmanbhan's hope Eragon and Tatiana, fluent first-outing winner trained by Dallas Todywalla, are the ones who too will be looking for a slice of the rich purse of Rs 1.82 crore.
