Formed in 2002, Barefaced Liar (BFL) is an amalgamation of the eclectic musical taste of its members: Akshay Chowdhry (vocals, guitar), Sumant Balakrishnan (vocals, guitar), Akshay Johar (bass) and Suyash Gabriel (drums), Abhimanyu Pratap (keyboards).
The band is influenced by classic sounds of bands and artistes such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. This week, they will pay a musical tribute to the latter as part of The Beatles Project.
Band member Chowdhry, says, “We are influenced by The Beatles and we will pay a tribute to them and try to do justice to their songs. We will be playing songs like Strawberry Fields Forever and Here Comes The Sun.”
Describing the Pune audience as “energetic and youth-centric”, he admits that they are always receptive to good music. The Beatles Project is a tribute to one of Britain’s greatest acts, whose albums triggered the passion to create music in many, including BFL.
One of their tracks-- Carnation, has been featured on several compilations in India as well as part of an upcoming artistes compilation in Los Angeles.
The band is performing in the city after gigs in Delhi and Mumbai.
