Man meets his beastly best and worst in these sculptures

Bestial Belonging

Man meets his beastly best and worst in these sculptures

The more we suppress our basic instincts, the stronger they grow. Not that of the perverse kind, but those far poorer and pathetic. Instincts that urge to kill, cut throat and oppress, all with subtle tact. These destructive, dormant thoughts serve as theme for artiste Krishna Murari's ongoing sculpture show, Interactive Aticulations.

And once you look behind all that leather and fibre glass, you'll be nothing less of ashamed.

'Anima'ted
The ideology of the exhibitions centres around the fact that the world is fast turning into a breeding ground for contempt, with each and every individual turning into a selfish animal intrinsically. There is nothing in the world that cannot be bought with money, and the world has become a playground of vested interests.
Other than the installations, Krishna hasu00a0 included 11 videos in his exhibition. The short clips also dwell on the same concept of reverse evolution. Go taste your true self.

Marbled weight age
The work is symbolic of how we, as individuals, are over-stressing ourselves under the burden of society. The Taj Mahal is symbolic of our home, and how it is precious to us, while we pay no attention to those labourers who actually built it in the first place.

Engineered flame
This one borders on the issue of terrorism and raises some basic questions on the subject. The work shows a masked manu00a0 atop a trolley, which is symbolic of how our leaders and politicians are using the common man as a guinea pig for their personal interests, leading to beastly protest.

Oh My God
The series shows how ant-like the human race is. Just like ants, we, as individuals feel that we are very laborious, hard-working and organised, but in reality, it's just the opposite. Even though we are moving forward technologically, we are losing a lot on other fronts. There is chaos everywhere, and our environment is
suffering.

Free society
There is nothing like that in the real world. This work shows two men fighting like bulls. The society is pretty much like that. You get two men in a fight, and enjoy the show from the stands. The policy of divide and rule is so deeply rooted in our minds thatu00a0 there is nothing that we can do to overcome it.

CO2
This one's all about nature. The squirrel plays an important role in preserving the environment, as it buries nuts here and there. We should also take the same course of action, feels the sculptor. On the other hand, squirrels are seldom seen these days, and we should make an effort to protect all that is good for our surroundings.

Barcode series
This piece shows a woman standing with a label attached to her. This is symbolic of the fact that the woman of today has become a commodity for many, leading to her exploitation. Whether it is for sex or marriage or in a job, a woman can be used in many ways.
