To celebrate World Photography Day today, the Piramal Art Gallery, NCPA, exhibits photographs taken by 80 masters of Indian photography. Here's a sneak peek into all things black and white and grey from the men who really knew their machines

Better than a thousand words

Over the past 25 years, we have hosted 500 photography exhibitions,” explains Mukesh Parpiani, curator, Piramal Art Gallery, adding that the photographers often donated a few of their photographs to the NCPA archives. Parpiani pulled up some of his favourites from this archive, for the exhibtion titled 80 Masters of Indian Photography to commemorate World Photography Day. “I picked one photograph per photographer,” he adds. So, the exhibition really has it all — nature, people, politics and street photography.

At: August 19 to 31, 12 pm to 8 pm, Piramal Art Gallery, NCPA, Nariman Point
