A few days after Amitabh Bachchan walked out of a press conference when asked about former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, the Bollywood superstar was seen on Sunday with his daughter Shweta Nanda visiting the Rajya Sabha MP at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Singh is currently undergoing treatment for urinary tract infection here.

Bachchan, who was in Delhi to attend the Jnanpith Award, met Singh in a private ward at around noon and wished him speedy recovery. "He was there for two hours," an AIIMS doctor said on the condition of anonymity.

Forced visit?
Bachchan's visit came two days after Singh's close confidante, actress and MP Jaya Prada's visit to the hospital and her outburst thereafter, warning that many will be in trouble if the truth is revealed by the former Samajwadi Party leader. "Where are those big celebrities who used to be with Singh and were helped by him?" Prada asked in an apparent reference to Amitabh Bachchan and his family. Bachchan had bought a land in Barabanki district of UP earlier but had to face a court case on the issue. Amar Singh publicly stood by him at that point. "Despite being treated so badly and attempts being made to spoil his image, he maintained silence, and also asked us to keep quiet. At the right stage, he himself will reveal everything," Prada added.

Singh, 55-year-old Rajya Sabha MP,u00a0 was admitted in a private ward of AIIMS on September 12u00a0 after his creatine levels rose and was immediately put under medical observation. He was brought from Tihar Jail, where he was lodged since September 6. A Delhi court had sent him to 14-day judicial custody following his arrest in connection with the 2008 cash-for-votes scam. Singh is on interim bail till today.
