According to the Malad police, on October 5, a resident of New Sonal Link society in Malad (West) had reported theft of his bike. However, installation of 10 CCTV cameras in the building premises proved to be a boon to the police.

On reviewing the recorded footage, the police caught the thieves in action. They took snapshots of the CCTV grab and passed them around.u00a0 The informers told the police that the two persons from the CCTV grab were part of a gang who are bike robbers, and were residents of Malwani.

The police officers investigating the case said that they did not know the exact location of their residence.

However, they couldn't believe their luck when one of the residents called them yesterday, informing them that they saw the accused enter the same building again. The officers sprung into action and arrested the two while they were trying to rob another bike. The police said that the modus operandi of the two was that they rode in the area on a motorcycle and would enter a society and move towards the bike parking area without being noticed.

While one of them kept a watch, the other would jumpstart the bike and ride off.

"The two unemployed accused wanted to make a quick buck to impress girls. They have been arrested with the help of CCTV grabs and will be presented before the court today," said Manohar Herpude, police sub inspector from Malad police station.
