As India Bike Week commences in sandy Goa, we got two high-profile, glam women bikers to share their highway diaries with us. Here’s what Gul Panag and Anoushka Manchanda had to say of their vrooming passion

What are your favourite weekend biking routes around Mumbai?
I love riding to town and back. Or any where in the suburbs. On weekends I use my bike as the primary mode of transportation.

If you had five hours, where would you wish to ride?
I would ride down to the Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope) from Cape Town via Chapman peak drive.
How did you get hooked on to biking?
I got hooked by seeing my two older cousins Simrit and Simran who used to ride bikes to college in Chandigarh.

What are your favourite weekend biking routes around Mumbai?
I take my bike out often in Mumbai to beat the traffic, but there’s so much dust and pollution on the streets that I decided to take my bike to Goa, and park it there. I enjoy riding in Goa. My favourite time to ride is just after the monsoon, in October. Everything is lush and green and even a ride to the supermarket is refreshing.

Along Australia’s Great Ocean Road.
How did you get hooked on to biking?
I was renting scootys and getting around in Goa when I first got there. Then, I started seeing these beautifully chopped and modified motorcycles. I asked a girlfriend of mine to teach me, which made it all the more special, and that was it. Riding gives me a sense of freedom. And, a sense of power. I love feeling the wind on my face and hearing the low bass rumble of my motorcycle.
