Assailants on bikes rob Rs 3.5 lakh from traders in Rani Bagh
Just days after the police claimed to have cracked robbery cases from the Rani Bagh area involving a biker gang, the robbers allegedly struck again on Saturday.
The police had even arrested six people in connection with the cases. But on Saturday evening, five armed assailants on bikes robbed two businessmen of Rs 3.5 lakh in the same locality in northwest Delhi.
The two businessmen were returning home after work on their scooter at around 8.45 pm when the robbers attacked them.
According to the police, the victims, Ankur Kumar Bansal and Pankaj Bansal, were intercepted by five assailants on two motorcycles near Pitampura village. The two were asked to part with their belongings and the bag in which they had the cash.
"The two resisted. But the robbers opened fire at them. Ankur was hit by bullets and fell off the scooter after which the assailants picked up the bag containing Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and fled the spot," said a police official, wishing anonymity.
Ankur was rushed to the nearby Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, where he is being treated.

The police have registered a case against the five and are investigating the case. "We will be interrogating the suspects. Prima facie, it appears they were tipped off by an insider because they knew the bag had cash in it.
We will make sketches of the assailants based on the victims' description," said the cop.
Meanwhile, in another incident on Saturday night, three men on a motorbike opened fire at a private security guard when he tried to prevent them from stealing gadgets from a car parked outside a hall in Keshavpuram area of northwest Delhi.
The incident took place at Lawrence Road where a marriage party was being held inside 73 Banquet Hall.
According to the police, the assailants were caught stealing gadgets from a car after breaking its windowpane.

The guard caught them, but they fired in the air and fled from the spot. However, the security guard managed to catch of one of them and raised an alarm. He was later handed over to the police. "The accused caught by the security guard is a petty thief identified as Jaswant, a native of Nainital in Uttarakand. We are interrogating him and are on the hunt for his accomplice," said a police official involved in the investigation of the case.
