Los Angeles: Comedian Bill Cosby has dropped his breach of contract lawsuit against his sexual assault accuser Andrea Constand.

On Thursday, Cosby, 79, voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against former Temple University employee Constand and her attorneys.

The entertainer sued them for allegedly breaching the confidentiality provision of a 2006 settlement agreement. On July 18, a judge partially rejected a motion to dismiss, The Hollywood Reporter said.

According to a statement put out by Cosby's attorney Angela Argusa, "With a court validation of his ability to proceed forward in that action to protect his own rights, Mr.

Cosby has today stepped away from that suit and will instead focus his efforts on defending himself against the claims that have been lodged against him."

As a result of the move, the parent company of National Enquirer also escapes claims of breaching contract over articles published about Constand's allegations and Cosby's
deposition.

The criminal case against Cosby for allegedly sexually assaulting Constand back in 2004 continues.

Cosby's move to dismiss after being given a green light to pursue claims follows what happened to Kristina Ruehli in June.

She sued Cosby for defamation over statements relating to her accusations, and after battling back a motion to dismiss, she quickly dropped her lawsuit, telling news outlets that she accomplished what she set out to do and has no need for money.
