Nadeem Memon hopes Pakistan women's Worl Cup ties are held outside Mumbai
After ensuring that Pakistani players are booted out of the Hockey India League, the Shiv Sena has now strengthened their stance against Pakistan women’s cricket team which is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai later this month for the ICC Women’s World Cup.

The Pakistan team will play all their three league games at the Bandra Kurla Complex ground which is situated close to Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshree in Bandra East.

“The Shiv Sena has openly challenged to disrupt the match, damage the pitch, outfield and dressing room if the Pakistan team play at BKC. They won’t mind getting arrested, but will ensure that Pakistan don’t play in Mumbai,” Nadeem Memon, BKC ground in-charge, told MiD DAY yesterday.
Memon, who is also a managing committee member of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), would request the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials and the Mumbai Police chief to shift Pakistan’s matches out of Mumbai when they meet today.
“Seeing the kind of ruckus which was created at the hockey stadium on Sunday, we don’t want any disruption. Ideally, Maharashtra’s senior political leaders should speak to Thackeray and amicably sort the matter just like how our then MCA president Sharad Pawar had met late Balasaheb Thackeray to allow the Pakistan team to play in India during the 2011 World Cup. I would request to shift Pakistan’s matches to another state,” said Memon.
The BCCI has lefted it to the International Cricket Council to take a final call on the venues for the Pakistan team. “We have informed the ICC about it. They will have to examine and take a view,” the BCCI president N Srinivasan said after the Working Committee meeting yesterday.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the BCCI is yet to allocate funds for various expenses that the MCA will incur during the ICC Women’s World Cup.
“The tournament is just 15 days away, but we have no clue about how much to spend on security, police cover, food and other such expenses,” a source said.u00a0
