The cosy eatery, Incognito has a Rock 'n' Roll feel of the 80s and offers authentic, wholesome European favourites

Blast from the past

A typical European roadside café is how they describe themselves but we found the eatery to be way more interesting than that.u00a0Incognito has a rack of sport paraphernalia, a giant tape recorder and a typewriter that sits humbly on the wall cabinet. The acoustic guitar hanging from the ceiling makes you want to look around the room to spot the jukebox, but sadly that’s the only thing missing at this joint that otherwise takes you back in time. Retro hits like We Are The World and Wake Me Up Before You Go play in the background at just the right decibel that allows you to chat.

We started our Continental culinary tour with Pecan Nut Stuffed Mushrooms which had crispy pecan nut covered dumplings stuffed with a tasty mixture of chopped mushrooms on a base of creamy parmesan cheese that melts in your mouth. We also liked the Mexican Chilli Lime Skewers, which were sticks of marinated chicken served with a yummy dip.

Along with the starters came a large tumbler full of their signature ice tea and glasses of Kingfisher draught beer served in tapri tray. “The idea is to raise the comfort level here. The ambiance, the food, the presentation is all focused on how to make our guest feel comfortable and enjoy the European roadside feel,” says Ravish Arora, promoter of Incognito, who also has ventures like Polka Dots , Baker’s Basket and Hotel Deccan Rendezvous to his credit.

“We have kept the recipes authentic. There’s no fusion food here. If you walk in for fish and chips, you get a traditional plate of fish and chips and it’s the same with the steaks and roasts, which are our specialties,” says Arora, a purist when it comes to food.

The main course was a Masquite Grilled Chicken, a generous piece of grilled chicken breast served with sauted veggies and lettuce. The meal was light, yet filling and left just the right amount of space for dessert. One needs to be careful while scrolling through the dessert menu as everything seems exceptionally tempting and worth a try.

Incognito is a European styled restaurant

But we decided to stop reading the menu after ordering a Lemon Cheesecake, a Chocolate Crème Brule and a Mango Cheesecake, all of which have to be relished slowly. The Lemon Cheesecake tingled the tastebuds with hints of bitterness of a lemon rind following a lemony sweetness, which was very unique indeed. The Chocolate Crème Brule gave a slight flavour of coconut, and the Mango Cheesecake was just all about mangoey richness.
