BMC polls: BJP and Congress workers clash at Ghatkopar

An FIR has been lodged against BJP Bharatiya Janta Party corporator Bhalchandra Shirsat after his party members reportedly clashed with Congress workers at Ghatkopar

An FIR has been lodged against BJP Bharatiya Janta Party corporator Bhalchandra Shirsat after he was accused of attacking a Congress party worker in Ghatkopar.

Shirsat allegedly attacked Rahul Kilani, supporter of Pravin Chedda who is standing from a Congress ticket, early this morning, according to Jignesh, brother of Kilani.

Rahul was patrolling with his friends at Vidyavihar near Fatima High School when Shirsat attacked him with a weapon that led to head and hand injury, added Jignesh.

He was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital and then to Chirag Nagar police station to file a police complaint after which he was brought to a private hospital New Life at Ghatkopar (W).

"We use to earlier work for Chedda who was a BJP corporator earlier and now standing from a Congress ticket," said Jignesh. 


The indicent happened at 4.30 am Thursday, just a few hours before voting began for Mumbai civic polls.
