Board helpline fields 8 to 10 calls about loss of hall tickets daily

Eight to 10 students call the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education helpline number 27893756 daily to report loss of their SSC and HSC hall tickets.

While the HSC exams are presently underway, the SSC exams commence on March 5. "Students are becoming very careless with hall tickets. We get eight to 10 calls from HSC students who manage to misplace their hall tickets.

In such situations, we ask the parents of the student obtain an application attesting the loss of ticket stamped and signed by college authorities. When the duly signed application is produced at the board office, and a sum of Rs 50 has been paid, we issue a fresh hall ticket to the student," said a member of the board helpline team.

The board helpline is open from 9 am to 7 pm on all days except Sundays and public holidays.

Anila Pillai, vice principal of HR College, member of flying squad of board, said, "Because a new notification stipulates that the supervisor and centre coordinator will be held responsible for any misconduct in exam centres, we are being very vigilant.

We have instructed college staff about rules to be adhered to during emergencies. Students have also been told how to deal with issues like losing hall tickets, and reaching the exam centre late. Students have been asked to carry a photocopy of their hall ticket with them."u00a0

On precaution

Trusharth Jadhav, an HSC student of Podar College, Matunga, said, "As a precautionary measure, I am keeping a colour photocopy of my hall ticket at home. In an emergency, I can ask my parents to bring it to the centre. My friends have also photocopied their hall tickets, and some of them have stuck the original hall tickets to their writing boards, so they don't misplace it."
