Last year, Sonam Kapoor scurried out of an awards function prior to making her scheduled appearance on stage because she had to host a birthday bash for her favourite co-star, Fawad Khan, at her Juhu bungalow.

The Pakistani actor had spent his birthday a week earlier in Goa with his wife, Sadaf, and son, Ayaan. His 'Kapoor & Sons' gang – Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Shakun Batra and Karan Johar hosted a dinner party for the couple at the venue.

Though the actor has been able to sink his teeth in an equal number of cakes this year, the wishes have primarily come from his peers from across the border, with his Indian pals failing to leave as much as a tweet for him on his special day.

Meanwhile, back in Lahore, his old friends, Ahmad Ali Butt, Hasil Kureshi, Bilal Lashari, HK Malik and Farid Jan in Lahore made sure he didn't feel the pinch by organising a grand celebration on Monday. The gang had an intimate celebration and, like Butt had earlier told hitlist, "Music is always the thread that bonds us...". There was great food, long conversations and an impromptu gig where the birthday boy hummed a few lines.

Another friend of the actor in Lahore informed us that he spent most part of the day shooting and intended to spend the evening with family and friends. His mentor Saud Qasmi said, "Fawad is ecstatic about the birth of his daughter Elayna. This is his happiest birthday ever. It is a wonderful feeling to see one of your own people, whom you've guided and supported in his career, doing so well."

Commenting on Fawad's sudden roadblock in Bollywood, Saud said, "It is really sad to see artistes suffer because of politics and just because of the stunts of a few people. I am sure it's a big hit back to Fawad's career also as he was doing very well."
