Several Bollywood celebrities including Farhan Akhtar, Farah Khan, Riteish Deshmukh congratulated Sania Mirza for creating history by becoming the first female tennis player from India to achieve the world number one rank in doubles.

Mirza won the title at the WTA Family Circle Cup with partner Martina Hingis in Charleston, USA. It was Mirza's third successive title win with Hingis and they have not lost as a single match since joining forces in arch. They won trophy in Indian Wells, which was their first tournament together and followed that up with win in Miami.

Calling Mirza 'the pride of India, Riteish Deshmukh wrote, "Pride of India - world No1 @MirzaSania - huge achievement-big congratulations my friend - hugs."
