Red carpet moments are the stuff that fashion dreams are made of. And this year's awards season gave us plenty of style cues, some spiffing, some insipid

Bollywood divas on the red carpet - The best and worst looks

Priyanka Chopra, Kajal Agarwal, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha

The awards season this year saw a lot of embellished gowns, some monochrome ensembles and plenty of jaw-dropping numbers. Needless to say, many bowled over the fashion police while a few others were far from impressive. Here's our pick of the best and worst red carpet looks from the last few galas:

Striking
Priyanka Chopra - 9/10
Priyanka Chopra

She teamed a velvet gown (brownie points for the unusual fabric) with a pooling bottom. Add to that, close-to-perfection waves, ox blood lips and smokey eyes, and you have a winner!

Kajal Agarwal - 9/10
Kajal Agarwal

We have a new name on our wow list. This look was as droolworthy as it gets. Kajal stepped out in a hot pink gown with a revealing neckline, minimal jewellery and a chic middle-parted hairdo. While the look may not be everybody's cup of tea as far as red carpet numbers go, we loved it.

Parineeti Chopra - 8/10
Parineeti Chopra

With this number, Pari made up for all the fashion faux pas that she has made in the past. It's an art blending a classy number with some amount of risk, and she does it almost effortlessly. We love the cut-out and the understated make-up and hair.

Aditi Rao Hydari - 7/10
Aditi Rao Hydari

While her personal brand of fashion is desi-boho — which she pretty much wears to perfection — each time, this look that she sported recently was a welcome departure from the usual. An embroidered fishtail gown, with only a ring as embellishment, we quite like this look.

Strike-out
Richa Chadda - 5.5/10
Richa Chadda

Richa looks best when she doesn't try too hard. While she has given us some interesting red carpet looks earlier, this wasn't one of them. The make-up and hair do was striking, though.

Sonakshi Sinha - 5.5/10
Sonakshi Sinha

Not surprised to see Sona on this list yet again. She teamed a jacket with a skirt and a chunky gold necklace. The ensemble made her look bulkier than usual and she decided to make a tight bun on top of that!

Deepika Padukone - 4/10
Deepika Padukone

She either gets it right or terribly wrong. This would fit in the latter category. Those ruffles with that hairdo and that tan makes the look almost comical. We weren't fans of the heels either. Moral of the story? Going overboard with experimentation can be disastrous at times.

Huma Qureshi -5/10
Huma Qureshi
This curvy actress wore a bright red gown with floor-length slit sleeves and bright red lips. Doesn't take a genius to figure out it was a disaster. The only redeeming factor was how it fell below the torso and the sleek wet hair. But, all in all, the get-up was insipid.
