This followed a petition filed by an accused, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, claiming that officers of the terrorism squad had tampered with evidence in the case. Chaturvedi requested for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.

In his petition, he blamed ATS officers of implicating him and some others. The court has asked respondents to file replies by June 26. The 2008 Malegaon blasts claimed six people and injured atleast 100 others. Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit were arrested in connection with the bombings.u00a0
