They defeated Campion School (Cooperage) 2-1 to clinch the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)
U-14 Div I title at Azad Maidan yesterday. In an equally contested match, Don Bosco rallied from a goal down to emerge victors by the odd goal in three.
Aryaan Sood of Campion opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a brilliant solo effort before Cyon D'Souza headed home an equaliser in the 13th minute for Don Bosco. Then, two minutes later, skipper Melburn Vaz scored the winner for the Borivli lads.
The second half saw Don Bosco apply a defensive approach. Goalkeeper Presley Lobo did brilliantly to keep the Cooperage strikers at bay.
It was double delight for the Borivli school as former coach Dominic D'Souza was the chief guest. "We were under pressure after Campion took the lead, but after we equalised, we gained confidence and bounced back.
Then in the second half we just tried to hold on to the lead," said Vaz, who was named the best player of the tournament. "Before these kids got a coach, they used to train under me over the weekends. I am glad that they responded well to pressure and won the final," said Dominic D'Souza.
