Zoya Akhtar's multi-starrer 'Dil Dhadakne Do' (DDD) seems to have touched a chord with the audience, although the opening day collections were a tad below expectations. While it raked in close to Rs 10.5 crore on day one, the figures saw a steady growth over the weekend taking the total to Rs 37.05 crore.

Trade expert Amod Mehra says the film, which met with mixed reviews, was doing excellent business in multiplexes, but hasn't found many takers in single screen theatres. "DDD's opening was just average, but word-of-mouth publicity saw the collections improve on Saturday and consolidate on Sunday. However, it needs to continue with the same momentum to reach a 'safe' point considering that it is a big budget film."

Calling the box office collections over the last weekend as 'decent', trade analyst Komal Nahta says DDD's performance was nowhere close to that of the Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'. "There is no difference in their ticket pricing, but since DDD is a costlier film, the recovery might be a bit sluggish," he adds.

Though the shows of TWMR were drastically cut down, it managed to hold its own even its third week, says Mehra. "It has made Rs 129 crore so far and is on its way to touch Rs 150 crore. Besides, it registered the highest second weekend collections for a female oriented movie," he states.
