The former Word No 1 boxer said he is very excited to see kabaddi getting the recognition it deserves. "Kabaddi is a popular sport in Haryana and I have played it in both school and college. I cannot tell you how happy I am to see the sport of our soil gain in popularity," Vijender said.


When asked which team is he was supporting though the boxer preferred to sit on the fence. "I am supporting kabaddi. Kabaddi is the winner. It is the spirit of the game that has made it so popular and swept audiences across the country," added the Glasgow CWG gold medal-winning pugilist.


It's a celeb show at thrilling finale
There was no dearth of celebrity quotient for the final day's action of the Pro Kabaddi League at the NSCI's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, here yesterday.

Right from celebrity team owners Abhishek Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai to U Mumba owner Ronnie Screwvala, actress Tara Sharma, singer Shankar Mahadevan with son Siddharth, celeb chef Sanjeev Kapoor with wife Alyona — all were keen spectators for the exciting finale yesterday. Indian Super League's founding chairperson Nita Ambani was present with son Anant.

Season 2 planned for March 2015
The organisers of the Pro Kabaddi League are so overwhelmed by the response the inaugural edition of the franchise-based tournament that they have planed a second season of the event as early as March next year.

Confirming the news, Anand Mahindra, co-founder of the league said, "I'm here to promise all you kabaddi fans that we are going to give you Season 2 of Pro Kabaddi in March 2015."
