Burglars hit Vasant Kunj with a vengeance

Two residences were ransacked; locals say lack of security in colony is the reason

In a brazen incident on Wednesday afternoon, two Vasant Kunj residences were ransacked in broad daylight.
According to the police, the incident took place around noon.

"It is a clear case of burglary and it seems the burglars were known to the families and had been observing them for a while. Also, it is suspected that more than four people are involved. We have registered a case under appropriate Sections and further investigation is on," said a senior police officer.

Maintenance money
According to Pawan Vohra, one of the victims, said, "We pay such hefty amounts as taxes but no security has been given to us. When the incident took place, no one was home. When we questioned a Residents' Welfare Association member about the quality of security provided to us, he said there is a problem in terms of money because nobody pays the maintenance cost. They don't have enough guards."

Anirudh Sharma, the other victim, said the burglars took a huge amount of cash and jewellery. "I live with my wife and a daughter. There is no security in the colony. The whole house has been ransacked and the door has been broken. We had gone for a wedding and when we came back, the house was ransacked. It's quite shocking for us because Vasant Kunj is one of the most posh colonies of south Delhi," he added.
