The winner of a beauty pageant has complained to the police that a businessman molested her on three different occasions in the city. According to the police, the complainant is a 27-year-old woman, a winner of the Miss Delhi competition and an actress who has worked in two Hindi films.
She had met the businessman on the sets of a south Indian film in Hyderabad last week. The two had exchanged numbers and spoke to each other frequently. Last week, when the businessman came to Mumbai, he called the woman to his hotel room in Juhu.
During the conversation, he touched her inappropriately and the actress pushed him away. She also warned him not to do it again. But it happened two more times in an interval of 1-2 days in the same week. On the last meeting on Tuesday, the man allegedly used force and tried to push her onto his bed. The woman just about managed to flee from the hotel room.
She then lodged a complaint with the DN Nagar police station on Wednesday, as she is a resident of Andheri. The case was transferred to the Juhu police, as the incident had occurred in their jurisdiction. An officer from the Juhu police station said, “The accused has been identified as Rushi Agarwal, a Hyderabad-based businessman. We only have his mobile number, which was provided to us by the complainant. We cannot divulge further details as investigations are on.”
Luxury hotels not safe for women any more
Another molestation incident in a five-star was reported by MiD DAY recently. An American citizen was allegedly molested by a designer of a boutique in the Taj Mahal Palace (American molested by boutique employee in Taj, December 7). Arun Jackson James, an employee of Burlingtons’, which is located inside the hotel, went to the woman’s room, telling her that he needed her measurements for an order she had placed with the store. On this pretext, he entered her room and while taking the measurements, allegedly molested her.
