The state cabinet finally gave the green signal to the long-awaited Metro Rail project for the city late in the evening yesterday.

Cabinet nod for Pune Metro project

Work on the Rs 5,399 crore Metro project will begin with its first 15-km corridor between Vanaj Factory on Paud Road and Ramwadi on Nagar Road soon.


The first phase of the project will cost Rs 2,593 crore. Subsequently, work for the second phase between Swargate Junction and Pimpri will begin.


The entire project is expected to be completed in five years. u00a0
