The basic reason behind not announcing Team India's new coach yesterday was that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman wanted to discuss with skipper Virat Kohli as to what kind of coach he wants to work with.

"All coaches have different methods. That is what the CAC wants to convey to Kohli and seek his views on the new coach," said a source.
The CAC wants everybody, support staff included, to support the new coach.
While it is believed that Kohli wants Ravi Shastri to come on board, the CAC has not been informed about the captain's choice.
Since Kohli expressed the need to have some space, the captain will be allowed to call the shots in the initial part of the tour to Sri Lanka for which the team leaves within a week. There is a big possibility of batting coach Sanjay Bangar performing the role of a caretaker chief coach, like on the recent tour of the West Indies, where the Indian team figured in five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international. Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad may travel with the team to Sri Lanka as a temporary bowling coach. The CAC's meeting with Kohli will be critical now. When will that happen, is the key question.
