Both New Zealand and Bangladesh have a reputation of upsetting calculations in big events. An exciting affair is on the cards when these two meet in their Group D opener of the ICC World Twenty20 here today

Can Bangladesh beat New Zealnd today?

New Zealand are already hampered by the absence of former skipper Daniel Vettori and pace bowler Tim South, both suffering from gastroenteritis. They also ended up losing the two warm-up games.

A lot will depend on captain Ross Taylor, hard-hitting opener Brendon McCullum and veteran all-rounder Jacob Oram if the Kiwis want to begin their campaign on a winning note.

New Zealand will have to pull up their socks against the Asian opponents, who seem to be well accustomed to the conditions in Sri Lanka.

Win in warm-up
Bangladesh, who won one of their two warm-up matches, is considered a decent outfit in the shortest format. The presence of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim will strengthen their batting while Mashrafe Mortaza and Abdur Razzak will lead the bowling attack.
