5 family members travelling to Pune met with the accident in Wagholi on Sunday morning; while the driver is dead, his kin have been hospitalise
A 32-year-old youth from Chandrapur died while four of his family members were seriously injured in an accident, when their car turned turtle after hitting the Pune-Nagar Road divider near Ubalenagar in Wagholi on Sunday at around 7 am.
The deceased has been identified as Piyush Shriram Gogirwar. His mother Manjusha (52), sister Rachana (25), brother Utsav (28) and cousin Yash Shrikant Gogirwar (18), all from Chandrapur, have sustained grave injuries.
Because of the mishap, traffic on the Pune-Nagar highway was affected for an hour.
The police then called a crane and took the car to the roadside.
Some of the local residents claimed that the car was flung 20 feet high up in the air after it collided into the divider.
According to the police, the Gogirwar family was heading towards Pune when Piyush lost control of the steering wheel, as a result of which the car hit the median on the highway and toppled on its side. Piyush died on the spot. The injured persons are being treated at Rakshak Hospital in Chandannagar.
