India No 4 Kavita Somanchi prevailed over Geeta Devi 25-10, 25-10 to enter the quarter-finals of the women singles event of the All India Public Sector Carrom Tournament yesterday.
In the Last Eight stage, Reserve Bank of India’s Somanchi will be joined by Indian Oil’s Kajal Kumari who beat Shilpa Palnitkar 11-25, 25-0, 25-12.
In the other contests of the day, Indian Oil’s Khushbu Kumari of prevailed over teammate Madhuri Tayshetye 25-1, 14-25, 25-19 while former World Champion S Apoorva of LIC overcame Bunti Laishram of BSNL 25-4, 25-11.
Meanwhile, in the men’s team championship, Zone 1 winners Indian Oil will play Reserve Bank of India while Zone 2 winners Air India ‘B’ will clash with Air India ‘A’ Team.
