Taking a serious note on the development in Swami Nityananda's case, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is chalking out legal strategies to get his bail cancelled.

According to officials, there are chances that Nityananda might influence or pressurise the witness to turn hostile through various means, since he is out.

Nithyananda's devotees had earlier filed a trespass case against Lenin, a prime witness in the case.

Citing an example, the officials said that there are futile attempts on the complainant Lenin to turn hostile in one form or the other.

Lenin is the complainant in the Nityananda case who presented a video footage showing Swami Nityananda with Tamil actress Ranjitha in a compromising state.

According to the CID, Nityananda's devotees filed a trespass case against Lenin first with the Ramanagar Superintendent of Police, which was later transferred to the CID.

The devotees then filed a case with the court and accused Lenin for the same. However, investigating officer Yogappa produced a statement in the court saying that Lenin had not trespassed in the Ashram.

The devotees then filed a case of contempt against Yogappa.

Bad example

A CID officer feels that if such incidents are repeated, it may have serious repercussions on the witnesses who may go hostile.

"This is a systematic plan to put pressure on the investigators and setting a bad example," said an officer.

He added the example of witnesses such as Ranjitha and Vinay Bhardwaj who have already turned hostile in this case, though they were said to have prepared themselves to give their statements earlier.

Ranjitha, who was questioned by a team of CID officials, had recently denied that she was not in the video, and her face may have been morphed.

Her statement came despite the CID having a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report from Hyderabad, stating that the video was genuine, and not tampered.
