CD review: Songs for Japan

The cause it serves is possibly the only reason preventing this critic from quibbling about some of the tracks on this double CD.

It gives you 38 artistes from four record labels. John Lennon makes a predictable appearance with Imagine, as do Norah Jones (Sunrise), John Mayer (Waiting on the World to Change) and Bob Dylan (Shelter From the Storm).

The surprises include Nicki Minaj (Save Me), Katy Perry (Firework), Eminem (Love the Way You Lie) and Cee Lo Green (It's OK). Also served are Bruce Springsteen, Black Eyed Peas, Pink, R.E.M. and Bon Jovi.

Royalties were reportedly waived so all proceeds could go to the Japanese Red Cross Society. At this price, a definite steal.
