Dinesh Champalal Bangla, an artisan at Nagraj Jewellers informed the shop owners that he had handed over five necklaces to Gehlot around 2 pm.
MiD DAY had reported that Gehlot after allegedly committed the murder had returned to Nagraj Jewellers, the shop where he worked, so they would not suspect him of wrongdoing.

The murder of Chajed took place when Nagraj had asked Gehlot to get his glasses which he had forgotten at home. As Gehlot did not return even after an hour, Nagraj called home. However, his call was not answered.
Bharat returned to the shop around 12.30 pm. Half an hour later when Nagraj returned home he realised his wife had been murdered.
He told the police he suspected Gehlot and Mahendra Rajput. According to the police, Gehlot left the shop around 2 pm after stealing the five necklaces worth Rs 2.41 lakh. Samarth Police Station PI Sanjay Bhambure said: "Four teams have been sent to nab Mahendra Rajput (21) and Bharat Gehlot (21), working at Nagraj Jewellers owned by Chajed and located at Govind Halwai chowk."
