Traffic policeman Premraj Naik was allotted a 1BHK MHADA house in Ghatkopar (E) six months ago. But he still stays in a rented flat because there is no electricity or water supply to the Ghatkopar house. The Ghatkopar MHADA building, along with 1,100 others in Versova, Chembur, has been lying deserted ever since the lottery winners were announced in the second week of May. But instead of fixing this problem first, MHADA had announced the dates for form sales and submission for the 2010 lottery for over 3,500 homes.

MHADA gave advertisements in yesterday's newspapers stating forms can be bought and submitted between January 1 and January 22 in Saraswat Bank branches. This has angered Mohammed Kazim Sheikh, who got the keys of his MHADA house in Ghatkopar one-and-a-half months ago, but has not shifted yet. His house too doesn't have a water and power connection.

'What's the use?'
"What is the use of MHADA making so many houses if it cannot give us all the facilities that we need? Electricity and water are our basic needs, but MHADA seems to have forgotten that and is in a hurry to sell more houses," said Sheikh.
