South Africa-bound Cheteshwar Pujara got some much-needed batting practice ahead of the challenging tour, smashing a double ton as Saurashtra pocketed three points for claiming the first innings lead against Tamil Nadu at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here yesterday.
Pujara smashed 269 in 461 balls studded with 33 boundaries while skipper Jaydev Shah missed a double ton by five runs.
Pujara and Shah were involved in a huge 353-run stand for the fourth wicket. Thanks to their efforts, Saurashtra overtook Tamil Nadu’s massive first-innings score of 565, eventually declaring at 581 for six. u00a0
